This Ish Is For The Birds: Meghan & Harry Are Chuckin' The Deuces
You know what's absolutely fascinating to me? The fact that the people of the UK would rather paint Meghan Markle as a manipulative, lying, homewrecker instead of acknowledging the trauma they have inflicted on both her and her husband. I won't pretend to understand anything about the British Royal Family. I don't know the first damn thing about blue blood bloodlines, historical lineages, monarchy or any of that shit. However, what I do know is family drama and racism, and that's all I see when I look at this current situation in the UK.
If you don't know by now, Harry and Meghan have decided to step back from their royal duties and split their time between Canada and the UK. While they're not completely stepping away from the monarchy, they've chosen to focus more on the family and becoming "financially independent." Now, I'm sure you're wondering why anyone would give that up. You're a bi-racial woman who has managed to snag a prince (LITERALLY) , move into a palace (THE palace if we're being honest), and you don't have to work a day again in your life. Why the hell would you give that up?! Because that shit is for the birds.
Ever since it was first announced that Meghan was reportedly dating Prince Harry, she has been subjugated to nothing but vitriol from the British people and tabloids. The bitch can't even eat an avocado or close her own damn car door without being accused of committing an unforgivable faux pas or disgracing the entire family. Even after they got married, rumors came out left and right about how she was "difficult" person. She woke too early for the palace staff, and they didn't understand her can do attitude. She butted heads with Kate Middleton and created so much tension that staff felt like they were working in a hostile working environment. As a black woman, who has often been called difficult, stubborn, or even aggressive, I know dog whistle politics when I hear it. They hate her blackness. Period.
The icing on the cake for me, and probably Meghan, was when she was publicly accused of destroying Harry and William's relationship. They ran every damn story in the book about that poor woman, when in reality, they were using her as a shield to cover up the fact that William was sleeping with Kate Middleton's best friend. That's right. They threw Meghan Markle under the bus and to the damn wolves just so people wouldn't focus on the fact that William couldn't keep his dick in his pants. And did Meghan air them out like Soulja Boy in a gun fight? No, she and Harry kept their mouths shut (probably under duress). Let me tell you, Meghan is better than me because I would've aired that shit out like Teri at the anniversary party on Soul Food.
I'm not surprised that they want to leave. Harry has been very public about his need to protect his family, and if you know the history of the tabloids' role in the death of his mother, it's understandable that he's traumatized. If you hear the way that he talks about protecting Meghan and Archie or how he talks about his love for his family, you can tell that he's sincerely afraid of losing them. If you add to this, the suspicions that his own family is complicit in this smear campaigns, I would pack my shit and go as well. The Royal Family has remained quiet throughout all of the bullshit because it has served their own interests. She's just a black girl, her feelings don't matter. Harry is going to get over his fetish at some point, right? He's going to leave her, and she'll run back home to Compton like the poor American trash she is. He'll fall back in line as soon as she's done. We'll let this shit go on and on and on, and finally, she's going to get fed up and leave, right? Tuh! Harry and Meghan said, "I can show you better than I can tell you!"
The British people wanted her out, they just didn't expect Harry to go with her. Well, jokes on ya'll because Harry is going to be with his family. Why stay where you're not wanted? Why put yourself through the endless bullshit every day when you don't have to? We tell each other all the time that just because someone is your family member does not mean that they are allowed to violate your boundaries, so why doesn't it apply to Meghan and Harry? Just because they're the royal family, they have to sit there and take the abuse like it's nothing? Fuck that.
Screw people who are criticizing them for making this move. Ya'll kept your mouths closed when the dirty shit was going down, and now that they've decided that, rules be damned, they aren't going to play your game, you want to act like she's a manipulative woman with a heart that's cold as ice. Fuck that. They're doing what's best for them, and if you were in their shoes, you would do the same damn thing. Or maybe you wouldn't, and that's why you continue to stand on the porch while your wife's family barrs you from entering the house on Thanksgiving like Elon James White.
The Royal Family, the British Tabloids, and the British people need to: 1) acknowledge the trauma that Harry clearly still struggles with to this day and the source of said trauma; and 2) acknowledge the role that they played in making this damn decision. Until they're ready to do that, they have no right to say anything about the decisions that Harry and Meghan are making for their family. No one cares about your temper tantrums or you removing their wax figures from Madame Tussauds. You look childish and stupid. Grow the fuck up and get a life. They have.
P.S. Oh, and don't think I didn't catch that "financially independent" tea. How much do you want to bet that the Royal Family held the money and Harry's inheritance over their head in an effort to get them to stay? What did Beyonce say? "And keep your money, I got my own." I knew Beyonce called her “My Princess” for a reason.
