I Don't Know Who This Man Is...
Let's have an honest conversation. Something is going on with Joe Biden. I have no idea what it is, but I'm concerned. From the moment that he announced his intention to seek the Democratic nomination for President, he has been an utter disaster. As much as he likes to rely on his record as President Obama's Vice-President, I'm struggling to see the resemblance to that man in the man currently on the campaign trail. Every time he's opened his mouth lately, he's managed to stick his damn foot in it. It's so bad that I almost want to send an Edible Arrangement to his campaign headquarters because I know that they are TIRED LORD!
Recently, Julian Castro came under fire for questioning Biden's memory at the last debate. Many political pundits and figures felt that the move was underhanded, unprofessional, and just plain bad politics. I call bullshit. Castro’s jabs may have fallen flat, but it was a serious ass question that deserves a serious ass answer. Is Joe Biden having memory issues? Hell, I've been wondering the same damn thing for months. Just look at his recent gaffes over the past few months and tell me that you wouldn't be concerned if it was your loved one. If my mom can’t remember my name after two minutes, I get concerned enough to ask her, "is your mind going?” You expect me to not to do the same to Joe when he can't remember his own healthcare plan or what state he's in?! I'm sorry. That's not realistic.
I don't think it's "below the belt" to call into question the “mental fitness” of someone who is seen by many as the front runner in this race. The fact that many Democrats are turning their back on Castro for doing so points to a fundamental issue within the party. When I saw Bernie Sanders say that he wouldn't go after Biden "personally", I knew that white men would rather defend each other than get real about this upcoming election. This was further supported by the fact that a Texas Democratic Representative switches his support from Castro to Biden after that performance. In my opinion, it seems that Democrats in Washington would rather avoid the elephant in the room rather than face it head on, and as a result, we're one step closer to being in the same position we were in during the last election.
Do you think Trump is going to be above asking about Joe's memory? Did we so easily forget his remarks after Hillary fell sick during the 9/11 memorial service in 2016? And on an international level, have we not seen the rumors swirling about the health of Germany's chancellor, Angela Merkel, after she's been visibly shaking during several events? I mean, come on folks, let's be real here. Biden's doctor came out and basically said, "I know what this looks like, but I promise ya'll, he's just fine." The fact that this man felt like he needed to say anything at all, means that there's a reason to be concerned. Either something is wrong or Joe is an egotistical white man who lacks the proper brain-to-mouth filter necessary to be in a position of power. Who else would just come out and tell some random story about a man named Corn Pop as a way of connecting with the Black Community? WHO?! I mean, the man suggested that social workers should turn on record players at night as a way of solving institutional racism. Are you saying we shouldn’t be concerned about that shit?
Listen, I know that this entire article may seem harsh, but I'm sick of the bullshit. We cannot afford another 2016 in 2020. It's already going to take decades to undo all of the shit that Trump has done to our country and maybe even longer to repair the international relationships that he's damaged in the process. I understand that many feel that Biden is the only person that can defeat Trump in 2016, but he's not going to be able to do that if he can't keep his shit together. He needs to present himself to our country as the best candidate to lead in 2020, and he's not doing that right now. If there's something wrong, acknowledge it and take the steps necessary to fix it because right now, he's a hot ass mess. And if there is nothing wrong...then we have an even bigger problem.
